Extension, Units and Programs

At the heart of K-State’s Department of Agricultural Economics is a commitment to translating rigorous economic research into real-world impact.

In today’s rapidly evolving agricultural economy, uncertainty is everywhere from input price swings and climate variability to changing policy landscapes. The K-State Department of Agricultural Economics Units and Programs exists to help producers, lenders, and cooperatives rise above those challenges. With more than 80 years of experience, our outreach efforts bring together applied research, financial benchmarking, and risk-management education to support resilient and profitable operations. Through our signature initiatives including the Kansas Farm Management Association, Ag Lenders Conferences, Kansas Income Tax Institute, and our award-winning Master of Agribusiness, we empower decision-makers with the insights and strategies they need to thrive.

Arthur Capper Cooperative Center

The Arthur Capper Cooperative Center (ACCC) in the K-State Department of Agricultural Economics was established on June 11, 1984 as a public-private partnership between Kansas State University’s Department of Agricultural Economics and the Kansas Cooperative Council. The ACCC’s purpose is to determine, develop and deliver research and education for the cooperative community. The Center's primary goal is to enhance society's understanding of the nature and role of cooperatives. The ACCC strives to develop and deliver innovative and integrated research and educational programs that are of direct interest to cooperatives. To do so, the Center encourages and needs an open dialogue between Kansas State University, cooperative leaders in Kansas and other university and industry contacts across the United States.

AgKansitions

AgKansitions, the Office of Farm and Ranch Transition at Kansas State University, has a mission of keeping families on farms in the State of Kansas. AgKansitions is working towards that mission through three objectives: the Kansas LandLink Program, offering one-on-one technical support to farmers, and beginning farmer and rancher classes. With personalized consultations and access to local resources, we empower individuals to navigate and execute successful agricultural transitions.

AgManager.info

AgManager.info website is a comprehensive source of information, analysis, and decision-making tools for agricultural producers, agribusinesses, and others. The site serves as a clearinghouse for applied outreach information emanating from the Department of Agricultural Economics at Kansas State University. It was created by combining departmental and faculty sites as well as creating new features exclusive to the AgManager.info site. The goal of this coordination is to improve the organization of web-based material and allow greater access for agricultural producers and other clientele.

Kansas Farm Management Association

With more than 80 years of experience serving producers, the Kansas Farm Management Association (KFMA) maintains a long term commitment to Kansas agriculture. Twenty-four KFMA economists, who are part of the Department of Agricultural Economics, comprise the professional staff of the KFMA program. The economists work cooperatively with farm families to provide members with production and financial management information for use in decision making.
